10 Great Beer Gardens In Hackney

Now that the government has relaxed the lockdown measures enough to get the nation’s pubs, bars, and restaurants back open, we’re all ready to go grab a cold, refreshing pint – keeping socially distant, of course!

But now the question is where? Summer’s here, and we all love a good beer garden, so unless you want to take a risk and end up somewhere similar to this Scottish ‘al fresco’ drinking area, we have our pick of Hackney beer gardens for all the craft beer, real ale, pizza, burgers and sun you need!

Crooked Billet – 84 Upper Clapton Rd, Clapton

The Crooked Billet is a large pub with an even larger beer garden, complete with outside food and drink bars. It’s ideal for an afternoon session, or a Saturday night out. The bar maintains a rotation of real ales and craft and commercial beers on draught.

Pub on the Park – 19 Martello St, Hackney

With a beer garden that looks across London Fields, it’s hard to beat this place for sitting out and hipster-spotting.

CRATE Brewery – Unit 7 Queen’s Yard, Hackney Wick

CRATE is a genuine Hackney Wick gem. This micro-brewery has seating right on the River Lea and is a spot that catches just about all of the sun. This is the place for beer, stone-baked pizza, and a chilled-out atmosphere.

Clissold Park Tavern – 177 Green Lanes, Highbury East

A favourite for locals to enjoy a laid-back vibe, craft ales, and stone-baked pizzas right by Clissold Park. The beer garden is a definite sun trap, is dog friendly, and has ample covered tables.

Strongroom Bar – 120-124 Curtain Rd, Hackney

This independent venue is attached to Audio Studios and draws a creative crowd who love Strongroom’s huge beer garden – apparently the largest in Shoreditch. They have a good selection of craft beers, and while the food is minimal, it works well with the drinks.
