4 Things To Do In Hackney

Before you up sticks and move anywhere, it’s important to make sure you do sufficient research into the local area so you know it’s somewhere you’re going to enjoy living and somewhere that gives you everything you need.

Where Hackney is concerned, you’ll likely find that it serves you very well in all regards, no matter what your interests are and how you enjoy spending your time.

In terms of attractions, there’s Hackney City Farm, fun for all the family and a great day out, so you’re sure to visit time and time again. There are pigs, donkeys, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and a whole lot more – and you can pick up your weekly organic and seasonal fruit and veg from Growing Communities. What could be better?

Those of you who love to be as active as possible, meanwhile, will no doubt take full advantage of the fact that you have London Fields Lido, an Olympic size heated outdoor swimming pool, right on your doorstep. It’s open all year round, with a large sundeck and sunbathing area ready and waiting for when the sun shines.

And the foodies among you will love nothing more than perusing the stalls at Broadway Market, a Victorian street market with a thriving Saturday market and more than 70 shops, cafes and restaurants that are open every day. Fun fact – the street is actually part of the old Porter’s Path and has been in use since the Romans were there.

You’ll also find Hackney Empire in the near vicinity, a 1900s musical that now serves as a modern theatre – great for a fun night out. Charlie Chaplin once trod the boards there, but now it’s renowned for the comedy nights it puts on.
